A Hamilton woman is telling us about the moment she heard a suspected XL Bully attack in her estate last night.

Officers were called to the Tinto View area of the town around 5pm and several houses were cordoned off for 24 hours.

Taylor McGregor exclusively told Clyde 1: "I was sitting in my room and I heard screaming noises and so I ran to the window and the dog was seriously attacking a man.

"The screaming lasted quite a while.

"Several people were trying to throw stuff at the dog and it was not budging."

When the police arrived the dog turned on an officer and it was shot dead straight away.

One man was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries and another was taken to Hairmyres Hospital.

Taylor added: "The whole thing is completely awful - I could still hear the screaming in my head even after it stopped.

"I really hope this never happens again."

Scottish Labour MSP Monica Lennon said: "When something like this happens, it feels very extreme.

"It is worrying to hear we have two people injured and armed police have had to shoot a dog.

"It's really upsetting and shocking to people so we need to get to the bottom of this."
