Last night’s jam-packed flight schedule at the International Ayr Show: Festival of Flight had crowds in awe as 17 aerobatic displays took to the sky.

Ayr’s Low Green was packed with thousands of locals and flight enthusiasts who’d travelled far and wide to attend the festival’s return.

Showcases from the RAF Red Arrows closed last night on a warm night on West coast.

The hazy evening added to the spectacle, with the eight aircraft seemingly appearing out of no where to display their next move.

They were far from the only display team out though, with crowd able to enjoy everything from helicopters to paratroopers.

Deputy chief executive of South Ayrshire Council, Mike Newall was pleased to see so many people enjoying the day.

He said: "We wanted to make this show really impressive, and we wanted to ensure this is such a success that we grow on this year on year, because we've got everything that we need here to make it bigger and better."

More than 100,000 people flocked to the beach to watch the displays on Saturday, with another 20,000 expected on Sunday as the event closes.

What's on Sunday?

Air displays may be finished for the weekend, but there is still another full day of events to look forward to on Sunday.

Bosses at South Ayrshire Council say families will be able to take full advantage of the weekend, with water activities and sports in and out of the sea included for the final day.

The activities kick off at 12pm today and are set to make a splash.

Visitors will be able to take part in water games, coasteering and coastal edging, or taking part in a full beach assault course and pop-up beach sports.

The festival village will also be open and include a range of stalls, classic car exhibitions, extreme sports displays and plenty of food and drink pop-ups.

Parking

If you’re making the decision today to head to the festival, parking outside the town centre will remain available for a price of £5.

That will include shuttle busses transporting visitors from Ayr Racecourse and Belisle Park.

You can pay for parking upon arrival, but drivers are encouraged to book in advance on the Ayr show’s website.
