Man charged after £60,000 of cannabis seized on M74

Officers recovered around 6kg of the drug

A man carrying £60,000 worth of cannabis in Dumfries and Galloway has been arrested and charged by police during a routine vehicle stop.

Officers pulled over the Vauxhall Insignia on the M74 near junction 16 Johnstonbridge around 10:50am on Thursday.

The 28-year-old man was caught with around 6kg of cannabis and a counterfeit licence.

He was charged in connection with drugs and road traffic offences and is due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Friday December 23rd, 2022.

Sergeant Scott McCreadie from Dumfries and Galloway Road Policing Unit said: “This recovery highlights the continuous work by officers to remove drugs from our communities.
