Man who died in Motherwell street named

A man, who died in a Motherwell Street has been named as 23-year old Cameron McMillan.

Emergency services were called to Quarry Street around 5.05am on Sunday 19th May after a fight in street.

Mr McMillan was injured as a result however he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are now appealing for information.

A 34-year old man was also arrested in connection with an assault and appeared before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday 21 May 2019.

A 21 year old man has been arrested on connection with the death and appeared before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday 20 May 2019.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective Inspector Cammy Miller from Coatbridge CID said: “Extensive enquiries are being carried out to gather as much information about what happened, with detectives examining CCTV and speaking to local residents.

“Despite the early hour, it was daylight and from CCTV we can see that there were a number of members of the public in the area walking dogs and going about their daily business. It is vital that these people come forward and speak to the police, regardless of whether they think they have information or not.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Quarry Street from around 4.30am to 5.15am, and heard or saw any sort of disturbance, to get in touch.
