Man dies following crash on the M74

The incident happened yesterday afternoon.

A man from Cowdenbeath has died following a crash on the M74 near to Uddington yesterday.

The man, who has been named as 50-year-old Billy McCracken, was on a Harley Davidson motorcycle at around 3.45pm on Sunday travelling northbound on the M74, when it left the road at the Happendon junction and collided with the central reservation.

Emergency services attended and he was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Sergeant Jonny Edgar, Road Policing Unit, said:

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen this motorcycle being driven on the M74, or indeed seen the collision take place.

"You may also have dash-cam footage from around that time and we would ask you to check back and come forward with it. It could hold the key piece of information that will help us establish exactly what happened."
