A man has died after a fire broke out at a property in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Ardgay Street in the Shettleston area after a blaze started just before 6pm on Saturday night. A 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed that they have launched a joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service into the cause of the fire.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to a report of a fire at a property on Ardgay Street in the Shettleston area of Glasgow, around 5.55pm on Saturday, 9 December, 2023.

"Emergency services attended and a 59-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“His next of kin are aware.

"A joint investigation is being carried out with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.”
