A 27 year-old dad of two has been murdered in Port Glasgow.

Jack Trainner was reported to be seriously injured on Brookfield Road around 9.05pm on Saturday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

Nadia Carter, who was Jack’s partner, said: “Your babies will love you forever.

“Can’t’ believe I’ve got to tell our babies you’ve gone to heaven – just doesn’t feel real.

“Love you always Jack Trainner.

“Shine bright for Cole and Callie.”

Officers say an extensive investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of what happened and there will be an increased police presence in the area.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie, from the Major Investigation Teams, said: “Jack's family and friends will continue to be supported throughout our enquiries.

“It’s vital we find out exactly what happened to him and I’m appealing to the public for help to do that.

"If you have any information that may assist officers with their enquiries, then please get in touch as soon as you can.

“We would also like to view any private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area and between 6pm and 11pm Saturday."

A Major Incident Public Portal link has been set up to allow the public to submit information directly to the inquiry team.
