Paisley town centre was placed on lockdown last night after what appears to be a stink bomb prank gone wrong.

Witnesses say a woman was heard screaming and coughing in Paisley’s the Last Post before staff evacuated customers around 9pm. It was orginally believed to be a gas leak:

At least 8 fire engines, police, ambulance and environmental health units raced to the scene.

The area was sealed off for several hours before it emerged youths had set off a device in the crowded bar.

There’s no risk to the public.
