There is an appeal for witnesses after a man was stabbed in broad daylight at a Renfrewshire supermarket.

The 22 year-old was attacked by two men outside Lidl on Johnstone's High Street around quarter to 10 yesterday morning.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital where he was treated for neck and shoulder injuries and later released - there's a description of the suspects on our website.

Two men were responsible for the attack - one was wearing dark coloured clothing and a beanie hat and he was last seen within a silver coloured Honda Civic car.

Detective Constable Louise Kane is appealing for any witnesses. She said:

“At the time of the attack, the High Street would have been quite busy and I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident or observed the car in the area to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information should contact Johnstone Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0807 of 6 June. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
