Police searching for man involved in Glasgow assault

The incident happened on Howard Street early on Sunday morning

A man is recovering after being injured in a serious assault in Glasgow city centre.

The 36 year old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary after the incident on Howard Street near Jamaica Street around 12.20am on Sunday morning.

Police are appealing for information and have released the description of a man they would like to speak to.

He is described as wearing a beanie hat with a bauble design, blue hooded jacket, blue denim trousers and tan boots, and was seen running from Howard Street into Adams Court Lane.

Greater Glasgow CID Detective Constable Matthew McCann said: “Our enquiries into this incident are at an early stage and I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to get in touch.

“As the incident happened close to a road we are also appealing for drivers with dashcams to review footage to establish if their cameras have captured the incident.

“Anyone with information that may assist our investigation should contact 101, quoting reference 0074 of 17 December.

“Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
