Fire crews were scrambled to tackle a dramatic blaze in a top floor flat in Pollokshaws as dawn broke over Glasgow.

Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed three appliances were sent to the incident at Wellgreen Court after receiving a call at 05.40am.

No injuries have been reported.

Images caputured by Clyde 1 News reporter Kieran Brand, before crews reached the scene, show flames and smoke billowing from the 2nd floor apartment, while a man watched from a window of the flat.

After the first of the fire appliances arrived a firefighter climbed a ladder to speak to the man before he left the flat.

A man who lives on the floor below told us: "We woke up and there was a fire truck and a lot of people screaming. Most of the people were outside when we came out."

Another man who was watching the fire crews in action described how he urged people in the flat to get out.

He said: "I was just driving down the road and I saw the smoke. I called 999 to check that someone had called the fire brigade, and someone had.

"The guy in the flat in the window was next door and so I shouted to him and said; "Look, mate, you'd better get out."
