Warning of train disruption as heavy rain is set to hit south west Scotland

Heavy rain's expected cause disruption on the trains today with the Met Office issuing a yellow warning of heavy rain for the south west of Scotland with predictions of flooding.

Avanti West Coast is advising passengers not to use its services on the west coast line from Glasgow where it's expecting severe delays and cancellations

Scotrail's slowing down some trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh today because of warnings of very heavy rain.

Speed restrictions are in force between Lenzie and Falkirk High, and also between Sanquhar and Dumfries.

In the Highlands trains will also run at reduced speed on lines to Fort William, Mallaig and to Kyle of Lochalsh.

Today's also the deadline for the RMT to accept a pay offer and drop the threat of strike action during Cop 26.
