Police investigate attempted murder in Renfrew

An attack in Renfrew which left a man in a critical condition is being treated as attempted murder.

The 37-year-old man was found with serious facial injuries in Wilson Street, Renfrew, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police are now searching for a man who was seen in the area just after midnight.

Detective Inspector Nathan Calderwood said: "We now have information to suggest that the man sustained his severe injuries after being assaulted by one man and it is vital that we trace the person responsible.

"I would like to speak to a man who was seen around 1220 on Sunday 14th January walking from Houston Street, into Wilson Street and towards Renfrew Town Hall.

"It is vital that this man contacts police immediately as he may be able to provide crucial information that could assist our enquiries."
