Sir Elton John made a lasting impression on fans as he said goodbye to performing in Scotland.

The legendary performer played his final show north of the border last night at the Hydro in Glasgow as part of his farewell tour.

Sir Elton, 76, plans to retire from touring next month after an iconic career spanning over 60 years.

The star dazzled two sold-out shows across the weekend, treating the thousands inside the venue to classics such as I'm Still Standing, Crocodile Rock and Bennie and the Jets.

Captain Fantastic

One lucky fan said: "It was on my bucket list and I have ticked that."

Another added: "Fantastic, it was absolutely brilliant from start to finish."

It was better late than never for this spectator, who sampled one of the star's shows for the first time.

He said: "It's literally a once-in-a-lifetime experience now that he's not going to come back here again.

"It was very different to any gig I'm used to, but you're just in awe of a legend, a genius."

"He sang all the hits, you name it. He was all I expected and more.

"It was not the first time I've seen him and sadly this will be the last."

Another said: "He's been somebody that I've wanted to come and see pretty much my whole life. He's an absolute legend."

Finally, a fan exclaimed: "It's the best thing I've ever seen. It's the first time I've ever been to see Elton John and what a finish.

"It was just lovely. My wife wanted to go and see him. I didn't think I'd go, but I thought it was absolutely amazing."

Sir Elton's next show is the main stage at Glastonbury on Sunday.
