Sixteen times the amount of people visited hospitals for dog attack injuries in Greater Glasgow and Clyde than in the whole of Northern Ireland last year.

Clyde News has uncovered the figures as part of our 'Lead the Way' campaign.

In Northern Ireland they have much stricter control policies in place, including the use of dog licenses.

In 2017, there were 1,500 people hospitailised with injuries across Glasgow and just 93 in Northern Ireland.

We are calling on the Scottish Government to adopt similar laws here.

Our 'Lead the Way' campaign found major inconsistencies across the country on local authorities control dogs and thousands are being hospitalised with attack injuries every year.

The Community Safety Minister Annabelle Ewing is writing to councils to find out exactly what measures they have in place.
