Two men seriously injured after assault by gang of youths in Rutherglen

There’s an appeal for witnesses after two men were assaulted by a gang of youths in Rutherglen.

The men, aged 24 and 27, suffered serious injuries in the attack which happened in the grass area opposite the ‘USAVE’ shop on Drumilaw way at around 2:45 this morning.

They approached a group of 5 or 6 youths wearing hoodies with their faces covered who assaulted them.

They were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where their condition is described as serious but not life threatening.

Detective Constable Ross Philip at Cambuslang CID is appealing for information, he said:

“There are a lot of houses that overlook the grass area and roadway at Drumilaw Way and I’d like to speak to anyone who may have been disturbed by noise at this time of night and may have looked out and witnessed the two men being attacked.
