Detectives have launched an investigation after two vehicles were deliberately set on fire outside a South Lanarkshire property.

Police Scotland have appealed for information after the fire at a property in Larkhall in the early hours of Tuesday.

The occupants of the house in Five Ways Road were woken at 3am to find a van and a car on fire in their driveway.

Emergency services attended and, after a joint investigation between police and fire services, the incident is being treated as wilful fire-raising.

Detective Constable Iain McCulloch, of Cambuslang CID, said: Enquiries are ongoing to establish why these vehicles were set alight and we are focused on catching those responsible.

I would appeal to anyone who was in the surrounding area around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to please get in touch.''
