Warning Glasgow potholes are a 'danger to life'
One man has replaced four alloys in twelve months costing hundreds of pounds.
Drivers across Glasgow are warning they could end up in a car crash because they are constantly swerving to avoid potholes on the city's roads.
Tam Forrester commutes to the north of the city every day and has spent hundreds of pounds fixing four alloys in the last twelve months.
He told Clyde 1: "It's infuriating to have to remember a pothole is coming up and when I am out driving with my wife I need to remind her to avoid them too.
"That is distracting me from keeping an eye on the road and other users.
"When there is rain the hazard becomes even worse because the potholes fill up with water and it's difficult to see them."
David Duffy spent over £200 after hitting a pothole coming out the Clyde Tunnel just days before Christmas.
He said: "The length and depth of these things are beyond ridiculous now.
"I wasted a day off work, lost a tyre worth hundreds of pounds and I believe it's now a threat to life.
"Drivers are going to end up in a crash trying to avoid them."
The city council says it is investing £6m in road surfacing across Glasgow and drivers will soon start to see the improvements.
Convener for Neighbourhood Services Ruairi Kelly told Clyde 1: "The mechanism in which we are funded by COSLA and the Scottish Government is based on the distance and size of the road network.
"That's opposed to the usage and our roads have significantly more vehicles on them than most other roads across the country.
"This means they are being damaged more quickly too.
"We try to do as many permanent pothole fixes as possible because the temporary patching just does not last very long."
