Woman, 41, appears in court accused of attempting to murder teenage boy

A woman has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder a teenage boy.

Paula Macauley, 41, allegedly assaulted the 16-year-old near Glasgow city centre's St Enoch shopping centre on August 4 2023.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene around 9.30pm before the boy was taken into hospital.

His condition has been described as serious.

Macauley appeared at a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

She made no plea and was represented by her lawyer Jim Sloan.

Court papers state that the alleged attack is to the boy's severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger of life and attempted murder.

Macauley was remanded in custody and committed for further examination.

She will appear at court again within the next eight days.
