Storm Dudley is slowly strengthening its grip on the central belt, but the worst could be still to come.

The Erskine Bridge is still closed to lorries after being partially blocked by water.

Ferries have been cancelled and trains stopped running before 4pm.

David Simpson from ScotRail told Clyde 1: "In these situations safety comes first.

"We are trying to avoid trees hitting trains because this poses a big risk to staff and customers.

"I appreciate people will be frustrated, but we are doing it with everyone's best interests at heart.

"We will be focusing hard tonight to provide the best possible service tomorrow once Storm Dudley has passed over us."

The Ayrshire coast and Dumfries and Galloway are expected to be among the worst hit areas later, with flood alerts in place until the early hours.

The MET Office has also issued weather warnings for wind across large parts of Scotland.

An Amber warning is in place until 11.59pm tonight and a yellow warning will stay until 6am tomorrow morning.

With Storm Eustice forecast to arrive on Friday, we are being warned to expect disruption to power supplies over the coming days too.
