Alfredo Morelos has officially been ruled out of Sunday's Old Firm clash.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed the striker will sit out of this weekend's match after being pictured in crutches on Thursday.

The Colombian was sent home from international duty with a muscle issue and was seen flying out of Glasgow Airport to visit a specialist.

The 25-year-old could also be a doubt for this month's key Europa League and Scottish Cup fixtures with his manager confirming he will be "out for some time".

Van Bronckhorst said: "Alfredo unfortunately had a new injury when with Colombia so he won't be available for Sunday.

"I think we will lose him for a longer time. We will assess him in the next few days but he is out for Sunday.

"It's always a blow when you lose players.

"Morelos is an important player for us but we have a big challenge ahead of us in the coming weeks so we have to be ready.

"We have to make sure the ones who are able to play are prepared".

Van Bronckhorst is now left with a big decision for the game with their talisman ruled out.

Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala are possible options to replace Morelos up front against Celtic.

Aaron Ramsey is fit and available for Sunday's match at Ibrox with Ianis Hagi still on the sidelines with a long term injury.
