Ange Postecoglou has moved to bolster his Celtic midfield by signing Australia international Aaron Mooy on a two-year deal.

The 31-year old joins on a free transfer after leaving Chinese side Shanghai Port this summer.

Mooy has been capped 52 times by the Socceroos and has worked with Postecoglou previously when the Hoops boss was manager of the national side.

The midfielder is also no stranger to Scottish football having spent two seasons with St Mirren early in his career.

He follows Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota through the door at Parkhead this summer after both players made their loan deals permanent.

Argentinian left-back and former Dundee United goalkeeper Ben Siegrist are also new additions this transfer window.

German defender Moritz Jenz was also announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaking of the two latest signings, Postecoglou told the club's official website: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring in both Aaron and Moritz to the club, and I’m sure they’ll be great additions to our squad.

“I obviously know Aaron from my time coaching the Australian national team, and he brings with him a wealth of experience at both club and international level.

“Moritz is a player we’ve been aware for a while now, and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to sign him.

“They’ve already had the chance to meet the rest of the squad, and I’m sure they’ll settle in very quickly into what is a very welcoming group of players, and I know that our supporters will be looking forward to seeing them both in a Celtic jersey.”
