Clyde News understands Celtic have had a bid for highly-rated defender Scott McKenna rejected by Aberdeen.

The 21-year-old was the subject of a rejected bid by Hull City in January with Dons boss Derek McInnes insisting the player wouldn't be going anywhere.

McInnes also confirmed Championship side Swansea had made an apporach for McKenna but were told he wasn't for sale.

But now it seems Brendan Rodgers has made his move for the defender as the transfer window nears its end.

The hoops already lost out on John McGinn after three failed bids - with the midfielder opting to move down south and join Aston Villa.

But it's not yet clear if Celtic will come back in with an improved offer for the 21-year-old or if they'll move on to other targets.
