Celtic head of recruitment Mark Lawwell resigns

Celtic head of recruitment Mark Lawwell has resigned.
Lawwell joined the club in the summer of 2022 after previously working closely with Ange Postecoglou at Yokohama F. Marinos.
He left the City Group to join the Australian at Parkhead but has now decided to call time on his spell in Glasgow.
Lead first team scout Joe Dudgeon is also heading for the exit door with the Hoops set for a reshuffle in the summer.
Speaking following the announcement, manager Brendan Rodgers said: “As part of the Club’s recruitment team, Mark and Joe have worked tirelessly to bring success to Celtic, and I would like to wish them both the very best for the future.”
Chief executive Michael Nicholson added: “Everyone at Celtic thanks Mark and Joe for their contribution and dedication to the club, and we wish them both every success moving forward.”
Celtic's recruitment has faced criticism for supporters this season with the likes of Maik Nawrocki, Gustaf Lagerbielke and Marco Tilio not being able to make an impact since signing in the summer.
Chairman Peter Lawwell, father of Mark, said the board shared the frustration of fans after the January window.
He said: "This was disappointing to us all and never the intention.
"The January transfer window is notoriously difficult as clubs are very reluctant to let their best players go at such a crucial time of the season, just as we are.
"It is notable that transfer activity in England was the lowest it has been for over 10 years, excluding the impact of Covid-19.
"A number of reasons have been cited for this including the absence of suitable players and new Uefa regulations, which impose spending caps."
