Celtic forward Daizen Maeda is set to miss three crucial matches after being called up to the Japan squad.

But Ange Postecoglou will have Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi available after they were left out of the international squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Japan take on China on January 27 before a clash with group leaders Saudi Arabia on February 1.

It means Maeda is likely to miss three big games in Celtic's busy schedule - including their big match against Rangers on February 2.

The Parkhead side will also need to cope without the forward for their trip to Tynecastle and their home game against Dundee United.

Celtic are already short up front as top scorer Kyogo is set to miss 'a number of weeks' with his hamstring injury.

Tom Rogic has already been ruled out of the upcoming matches after being included in the Australia squad.

Rangers will be without Alfredo Morelos for next month's Old Firm, while Joe Aribo looks certain to still be at the African Cup of Nations.

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers and Ibrox midfielder James Sands will both be available after missing out on a call-up from the United States.
