Dundee boss Mark McGhee has revealed another bizarre tactic to motivate his players ahead of tomorrows massive game against St Johnstone.

He's pledging to go naked for a week if Dundee win.

McGhee told his players on Monday that he had gone on a diet and switched off his heating to ensure his hunger and discomfort is a constant reminder that there is a big game coming on Saturday.

Dundee have a chance to cut the gap at the bottom of the cinch Premiership to two points but defeat against Saints would leave them eight adrift with four games left.

The former Scotland international was looking for his players to instigate their own change in approach when outlining his unusual plan and he has seen the benefits as he looks for a first win in his 10th game in charge.

McGhee knows a win is vital to help give them hope in their survival battle and admits he is turning to unique methods in the build-up.

The Dundee boss said said: "The boys have made me promise that if we beat St Johnstone then I’ve got to go naked for a week"

"You've just got to do something to psychologically remind yourself and put yourself under a bit of pressure, because there's a big game coming and I think the players understand the message that I'm trying to give."

The bizarre tactics continue...

It comes after the 64-year old said earlier this week that he will turn off his heating and go on a strict diet to try and give them the edge on Saturday.

The Dundee boss said: “It requires no stone being left unturned because when the boys run out there on Saturday we need to be able to say we’ve done everything we can to help them get a result.

“I’m going to tell you something really silly. I was trying to make a point with this with Charlie on Monday and he ended up taking the mickey out of me.

“There are two things I’m doing this week to focus us on getting the win. The first thing, I’ve gone on a diet so I’m hungry all the time.

“I can then ask myself why am I hungry – and I am hungry because there is a big game on Saturday.

“The second thing I’m doing, and I’ve also told Charlie I am doing this, I won’t be using any heating. So I will be cold.

The Dens Park side sit bottom of the table - five points behind Callum Davidson's men going into the match.
