Dundee United have parted company with head coach Liam Fox following a 4-0 defeat to Ross County on Saturday.

In a statement the club said: "Dundee United can tonight confirm we have parted company with Liam Fox who leaves his role as head coach by mutual agreement.

"The board would like to thank Liam for all his efforts and professionalism during his time as assistant head coach last season and this season during his tenure as head coach.

"An announcement as to a new head coach will be made in the near future and we will make no further statement at this time. "

United sit bottom of the table and are on a run of six straight defeats.

Their 4-0 thrashing in Dingwall leaves the Tannadice side 4 points behind Kilmarnock and Ross County, albeit with a game in hand,

Liam Fox took the top job at Dundee United after Jack Ross was sacked following a 9-0 home defeat to Celtic.

Dundee United will now be looking for their third permeant head coach this season.
