Max Johnston has earned his first senior Scotland call-up after Andy Robertson and Aaron Hickey were forced to pull out the squad.

Skipper Robertson was forced off injured with a shoulder injury in Thursday's 2-0 defeat to Spain.

Hickey played the full match but has also withdrawn from the squad.

Former Motherwell full-back Johnston has been with the under-21 squad.

He set up a goal in their 3-1 win over Hungary on Friday night before being sent off in injury time.

The 19-year old, who now plays for Sturm Graz in Austria, would have been suspended for the youth side's upcoming match against Malta on Tuesday.

Instead he will travel to Lille with Steve Clarke's team for their friendly against France on the same night.

It comes the day after Scotland secured their place at Euro 2024.

Spain's 1-0 win over Norway in Oslo means the national side will definitely be in Germany next summer.

Manager Steve Clarke hailed it as a 'phenomenal' achievement for the players, staff and supporters.
