Motherwell midfielder Callum Slattery has suffered a season-ending knee injury.

The 24-year-old picked up the injury during a training session last week.

The timescale of Slattery's recovery is not yet known.

Slattery has been a key man for manager Stuart Kettlewell this campaign, making 25 appearances.

Speaking to the Motherwell FC website, Kettlewell said: “First off, I want to wish Callum the very best in his recovery.

“Losing him is a massive blow for the team and the nature he has picked up this injury only makes the situation worse for the player.

“We’ve not had our problems to seek with regards to injuries this season and this is another hurdle we have to deal with.

“Callum will now begin his recovery and the staff here will look after him every step of the way and I have no doubts, with the Callum’s attitude and strong mentality, he will come back stronger and ready to go.”

Motherwell sit in 9th place in the Premiership, with the league currently on its mid-season hiatus.

They host Alloa in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
