Rangers have been fined nearly £40,000 by UEFA following incidents in their Europa League quarter-final with Braga.

The charge has been handed to them on the day of their massive semi-final tie with RB Leipzig.

The Gers have been fined £30,000 for fans letting off flares and a further £8000 over late kick-off.

Visiting supporters lit flares inside the Estádio Municipal de Braga on April 7th, while the Ibrox side were also found at fault for the match kicking off late.

It is not the first time this campaign that the Govan side have been financially penalised by the governing body.

Similar incidents during the last 16 meeting with Red Star Belgrade and the second round tie with Borussia Dortmund caused the club to be fined, meaning it is the third occasion they have been charged this season alone.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's team are in Germany tonight for their semi-final first leg against Leipzig in the Red Bull Arena.
