Rangers have moved quickly to secure their Calvin Bassey replacement by signing Liverpool defender Ben Davies on a four-year deal

The 26-year old joins for an initial fee believed to be £3million - with £1million of performance-related add-ons also included in the deal.

Davies was close to joining Celtic at the end of the January transfer window in 2021 with his contract at Preston North End whittling down.

However, Liverpool stole in just before the deadline to complete a deal while they were going through an injury crisis.

He didn't make a competitive appearance for the Anfield club and was loaned out to Sheffield United last season.

Davies becomes Giovanni van Bronckhorst's sixth signing of the window so far.

John Souttar joined following his pre-contract agreement.

The Ibrox side have also added Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and Malik Tillman in the past week.
