Andy Robertson has become the first Scot to win Europe's most prestigious competition in 22 years.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Liverpool's 2-0 Champions League final victory over Spurs last night.

He emulates the success of Paul Lambert who achieved the feat in 1997 with Borussia Dortmund.

Darren Fletcher was also an unused sub for Manchester United in their shoot-out final win over Chelsea in 2008.

It's only seven years since Robertson was playing with Queen's Park in Scotland's bottom tier.

He praised Manager Jurgen Klopp following the match. He said ''once quiet a few of us lifted the trophy

it was important for him to lift it because he's had a lot more heart than us. He's been beaten in I think two or three big finals.

This is for him and for everyone at the club because they put so many hours in for us to make sure our boys are ready to go out on the pitch.''

Liverpool's Champions League triumph left Jurgen Klopp ecstatic, emotional and hungry for more after finally getting his hands on silverware and then receiving a call from Premier League adversary Pep Guardiola.

Mohamed Salah's spot-kick and more heroics from substitute Divock Origi saw the Reds crowned champions of Europe for the sixth time as they brought an outstanding season to a memorable conclusion.

The 2-0 win against Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham saw Klopp end his cup final hoodoo and finally lift a trophy as Liverpool manager - a victory all the sweeter after being pipped to the Premier League crown.
