Scottish goalkeeping legend Billy Thomson has died at the age of 64.

Billy, who won 7 full international caps for his country, made a name for himself at St Mirren for whom he played over 200 games.

He left the Buddies in 1984 to join Dundee Utd and starred in their run to the UEFA Cup Final of 1987, where they were edged out by IFK Gothenburg over two legs.

Billy also had stints with the likes of Motherwell and Rangers in a career which totalled over 500 games, before hanging up his gloves and becoming a coach.
