USA awake up to CMA surprise

Two awards have been announced 12 hours before ceremony kicks off

In a surprise twist, the 51st annual CMA awards have kicked off early. Good Morning America were in on the act as they and Kelsie Ballerini were coming live from the roof of Acme Feed and Seed, on Lower Broadway, Downtown Nashville.

At at around 8:15 am ET the announcement came that the CMA Music Video of the year award went to Brothers Osborne ‘It Ain’t My Fault’. Directed by Wes Edwards and Ryan Silver.

Secondly, the CMA Musical Event of the Year went to ‘Funny (How Time Slips Away’ by Willie Nelson and the late Glen Campbell.

After the announcements were made, Ballerini took to the stage and performed ‘Roses’ and ‘Unapologetically’.

The main body of the awards kick off at 1:00 am GMT on Thursday morning.
