HIGHLIGHTS: Giants V Cardiff Semi Final

The Stena Line Belfast Giants lost out 3-1 on Tuesday night at The SSE Arena, Belfast in the Challenge Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg against the Cardiff Devils with the Welsh side advancing to the Final on Sunday 6th March in Sheffield.

The Stena Line Belfast Giants lost out 3-1 on Tuesday night at The SSE Arena, Belfast in the Challenge Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg against the Cardiff Devils with the Welsh side advancing to the Final on Sunday 6th March in Sheffield.

The Devils took a 5-3 advantage into Tuesday's 2nd Leg following their home win earlier this month. After a scoreless opening period, the Giants broke the deadlock in the second period to bring themselves to within one goal on aggregate with Michael Forney's neat finish at 23:07.

However, soon after the Devils took full advantage of a four minute powerplay and Leigh Salters scored on the rebound at 27:42 to restore his side's two goal advantage.

The final period saw the Devils score again on the powerplay, this time is was Carl Hudson at 51:07 to put the Devils ahead 2-1 in the game and 7-4 in the aggregate scoreline. With Stephen Murphy pulled for the extra out skater, Joey Haddad scored his 15th of the season in to an empty net at 57:27 to seal the win for the Devils.
