Northern Ireland braced for disruption from Storm Barbara

Strong winds could cause disruption to travel and power supplies, forecasters have warned.

The Met Office has issued a yellow be aware'' warning for wind for much of Northern Ireland, which is valid from 9am on Friday until 9am on Christmas Eve. Blustery westerly winds are expected to bring heavy and frequent showers across the weekend.

Gales are likely at times with winds gusting to around 60-70mph.

The Met Office advises of potential for disruption to power supplies and travel, with disruption to ferries.

Stormy conditions are expected to continue through to Christmas Day.
