It doesn't matter whether it's your first car or your mum's old banger, to have your own set of wheels is a right of passage.

One of the first things you do with the keys of a new car, after the test drive and Instagram post is to name it.

Sometimes it’s hard not to see faces and personalities in cars, which is why we, subconsciously, make psychological connections to them.

A recent study of 2,000 drivers found four in 10 have named a car, with Bessie, Betty and Bertha among the top choices. Do these sound familiar? What is it with all the B's, surprisingly Boris made it into the top 10 also.

The study came from Your Red Car, a new online auto marketplace powered by Santander.

31% of owners confirmed that they refer to their car as she/her, while 10% confessed to hugging their car.

Gen-Z drivers (18-24) went a step further, claiming to feel more attached to their vehicle than their parents (35%).
