Postcard arrives 50 years after it was sent and reunites school friends
The pair lost touch after university.
When Tim Duffy from South Australia checked his post one day he got a surprise.
Tim, who had lived in his property for 18 months opened his mailbox and found a postcard which had been sent 50 years ago.
The postcard was addressed to Robert Giorgio, believed to have been the house's original owner and had been sent from his old school friend Chris Reynolds, who was in Tahiti at the time.
On finding the postcard Tim decided to contact his local newspaper, who with a bit of detective work managed to reunite the long lost buddies.
"Robert was a school friend," Chris told the paper, "We stayed friends for quite a while, though eventually we lost contact."
In the postcard Chris wrote I'm "enjoying myself greatly", "The weather is very humid... I’ll try and drop you a note in England."
The stamp cost just 13 francs to send the postcard back in 1966.

The postcard was still in good condition, although a little faded and showed the colonial buildings in French Polynesia.

When Australia Post found out about this the company apologised and acknowledged something "went wrong" going on to say, "Australia Post takes great pride in the timely, safe and efficient delivery of mail and we are confident that the vast majority of mail and parcels arrive on time."
