Autism is a life-long developmental disability that affects the way people communicate and relate to others around them. This means that they find socialising with others extremely difficult, can lack imagination and more often they have sensory issues, which leaves mainstream activities unsuitable. Therefore, children with autism need specific projects which take into account their communication and sensory difficulties to help them develop skills and coping strategies.

The NASNI incorporates both play and learning to help address these issues for the children affected. The grant they received from Cash for Kids will be used to provide play, sensory and learning equipment/toys in their different play and arts and craft zones. This will help develop children’s motor skills, encourage the children to socialise and interact with each other and provide methods of communication.
