Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt make first joint statement
The estranged couple have decided to keep things private.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have publically released their first statement saying that they will be keeping all divorce documents and proceedings 'under seal' in order to 'preserve the privacy rights of their children and family'.
The statement continued, 'The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.'
The estranged couple will use a private judge to keep all divorce proceedings confidential.
Private judges are becoming more popular in the US, particularly for wealthier clients as it means that all personal information will remain private. They have the same authority as public judges, however the client is able to choose their own judge and schedule the court dates to fit with their schedule.
Angelina filed for divorce from her husband of two years and partner of over ten, last September after an incident allegedly occurred on a private jet.
In November the court papers revealed that Angelina was seeking full physical custody of all six children whilst Brad Pitt was seeking joint custody.
The pair currently have a voluntary temporary custody agreement in place where Brad has supervised visitation rights whilst Angelina has primary physical custody.
The Maleficent actress has avoided the limelight recently, however Brad was promoting his new World War II drama Allied before Christmas and made a surprise appearance at last weekend's Golden Globes where he introduced a clip from Moonlight, a film he was involved with.
