Viewers were not happy

EastEnders viewers have vented their anger at the programme after hearing two offensive words used on the show before the 9pm watershed.

In the scene which aired early on in Thursday night’s episode, Sharon Mitchell and Michelle Fowler used the words ‘b**’ and ‘a***’, which generated more than 80 complaints to broadcasting watchdog Ofcom.

Speaking about Phil after discovering he is the father to Denise’s unborn baby, Sharon said, “He’s a stupid, stupid b**’."

Viewers were left in shock once more after Michelle then said the line, "I might as well have shoved it down my trousers and sell taped it to my a***."

Fans of the show took to Twitter to vent their anger at the conversation…

After receiving the complains, a spokesperson for Ofcom said, "We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate or not."

EastEnders isn’t the only soap angering viewers.

Just last week Coronation Street fans were left in shock after hearing character Eva Price use similar language before 9pm.

After thinking she’d found out her boyfriend Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward) had been cheating on her with Alya Nazir in their flat she lashed out at him saying, “This didn’t stop Eva lashing out at her discovery and called Aidan ‘a lying, cheating b**’.

EastEnders or Coronation Street bosses are yet to comment about the recent complaints, with both soaps continuing weekdays.
