Rumours were rife earlier in the week that former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas was set to join popular Australian soap Neighbours. But now the actor seems to have shut down the rumours.

Appearing on today's episode of Lorraine, Ryan was asked if he's set to appear on either I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here or Neighbours by show host Lorraine Kelly and he was quick to deny both.

When Lorraine said, "So Australia no? You're not even going to Neighbours?", Ryan responded saying, "I keep getting all of this all of the time. I get the jungle, Neighbours,"** and later he revealed the only show he's been approached for this year is Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls**, which he is appearing on right now.

Watch the moment he denied the rumours below:

It was being widely reported that Ryan would be moving to Australia to play a mysterious newcomer by the name of Raphael in Neighbours. A source told a national newspaper, "Ryan’s news may come as a bit of a surprise but people are confident he’ll make a big splash on Neighbours. He’ll bring his Corrie fans with him and earn a new legion of fans along the away.

"He is just waiting on his visa. Then he’ll be moving to Australia to film the show."

Ryan, who is mostly known for playing Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street, first joined the soap way back in 2002 and became a popular character with fans of the show. Ryan later announced he was leaving in June last year after admitting he wanted a new challenge.

At the time of his departure, Ryan shared a message on his Instagram page which read, 'Thank you to everyone at Coronation Street for making the last 16 years of my life so special, time for a new chapter, new beginning wherever that may take me next. I'm excited to grow as an actors and more importantly, as a human being! And my last thanks goes to you lot!!! For supporting Jason Grimshaw since 2000, there's a lot love for "Jason" and it never goes unnoticed. Thank you so so much!!!!'. sic

Ryan was also heavily rumoured to star in this year's series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here after the success of his brother Adam back in 2016.

Adam, who previously starred in Emmerdale, finished third on the show behind comedian Joel Dommett and eventual winner Scarlett Moffatt.
