The film boasts a star-studded cast

The Assassin’s Creed trailer has finally been released and we can’t wait to see Michael Fassbender’s performance.

In the gripping trailer we see the actor told (by Inception actress Marion Cotillard) that he was declared dead and that he no longer exists.

Michael’s character, Callum Lynch, must explore the memories of his ancestors and in doing so, realises he’s a descendant of a secret Assassins society.

The story is set in the same universe as the Assassin’s Creed video games but follows a new story.

For the 39-year-old, the film follows a series of great performances recently, as he stood out in films like X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Steve Jobs and Macbeth.

Speaking to IGN, Michael explained why you won't have had to play the games to understand the film. He said:

“There are certain things that we absolutely want to respect in the game but we also want to bring new elements to the game.

"This isn’t a video game that we’re making. We’re trying to make a cinematic experience, so there are new things that we have to introduce.”
