Woman discovers real treasure inside a boiled egg

Sitting down to breakfast one day Sally Thomson from Cumbria got the shock of her life.

As she tucked into her boiled egg she felt something hard in her mouth and to her amazement found a little shiny diamond. 💍

What a great surprise for the bride-to-be who is due to get married in May.

"I'm trying to lose a bit of weight just before the wedding and I cooked a batch of eggs all at once to eat over a few days," she explained.

"I took one, peeled it and bit into it when I felt something like gristle in my mouth.

"There was this little bit of jewellery on the plate and I couldn't understand where it had come from. The only place could have been from the egg."

The 39-year-old from Carlisle described the find as "surreal" explaining she "believes in superstitions" but wasn't sure what this was a sign of.

After her unusual find Sally posted it on Facebook and many commented with their theories of how it got there, including the idea that the chicken had eaten the diamond, which then passed through into the egg.

Painful? Hopefully not... 🐔

Since finding the gem Sally has taken it to a jewellers who have said it is probably Cubic Zirconia (a synthetic gem), rather than a diamond, however it is still a pretty impressive find!
