Hollyoaks fans are patiently waiting to discover who killed Amy Barnes on her wedding day back in April, but now Duncan James has just revealed a major twist about his involvement during an interview.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS!

Speaking to This Morning's soap correspondent Sharon Marshall, Duncan, who plays Amy's husband Ryan Knight in the soap, revealed he has an alibi for the night of Amy's murder and it's not who you would expect.

Despite marrying Amy and enjoying a number of flings with Mercedes McQueen, Duncan admitted his character was actually in bed with newcomer Kyle (Adam Rickett) on the night of the murder.

Viewers of the show know that Ryan has been trying to cover up his secret, but up until now, they were unaware as to what he was hiding.

However during the interview, Duncan didn't completely rule himself out of being guilty. He said, "You never know with the time frames. I could of killed her (Amy) and then slept with him (Kyle). I still don't know if I've done it yet or not."

Despite the big new revelation, fans will be wary as to whether or not to believe Duncan's words as his co-star Kieron Richardson lied during an interview with This Morning a few months ago to keep the killer a secret.

Making it look like he'd dropped himself in it by revealing too much, Kieron, who plays Ste Hay in the soap, made fans think he'd killed the character Amy.

However it was later revealed that Kieron had the whole thing planned before he went onto the set.

The actor recorded a video of himself telling people he is going to pretend to slip up and reveal who the killer is, "because everybody thinks they have worked it out".

He had everybody fooled!

Meanwhile Kieron's character Ste is currently behind bars after orginally confessing to killing Amy. But after remembering more and more from the night, he later pleaded not guilty in court.
