Are you the type of person who prefers a starter and main course in a restaurant, with the hope of checking out a cool dessert spot after? Yup, us too!

Well Northern Ireland has a rich tradition with all things sweet – from yellow man on the coast to the classic Mr Whippy poke.

There’s a host of mouth-watering spots across NI that can help satisfy your sweet tooth – some even stay open a little later too.

The Creamery, Rosetta Road, Belfast

Who doesn't love a pancake stack, topped off with fresh fruit and dripped in white chocolate sauce. A popular spot in the city, these guys offer whipped ice cream, homemade gelato and fresh coffee daily. They're opening hours are super handy too, Monday-Saturday 8am-10pm and Sunday 10am-10pm.

Joob Joobs, Belmont Road, Belfast

This modern-day Willy Wonka inspired treasure trove is a feast for the eyes. Serving up an entire wall of self-serving sweetie containers, you can fill a cone with your ultimate pick-n-mix favourites. It's a great spot to grab a coffee and chocolate, sit back and relax!

Mackles Ice Cream, Monaghan, Tyrone, Donegal & Armagh

If ice cream is the way to your heart, then you MUST try Mackles – their list of toppings and sauces is endless. With stores open in Armagh, Dungannon & Donegal until 9pm, and their Monaghan drive thru open until 10pm, it's the perfect late-night destination.

Nellie-Jay’s, Stewardstown Road, Belfast

Nellie-Jay's is just a couple of months old, but it's all anyone is talking about right now. This charming ice cream and dessert parlour is the home to some of the tastiest treats – from sundae's to loaded waffles. Wow!

Spoon Street, Ballyhackamore, Belfast City Centre, Lisburn Road, Lisburn, Rushmere

Another frozen spot open until 10pm, that's perfect for health-conscious sweetie lovers is Spoon Street. With popular locations dotted across NI, this is your one-stop froyo shop. Specialising in delicious frozen yoghurts, sorbets and shakes, there's an entire trough filled with fresh fruit, nuts, sauces, and sweeties to decorate.

Old Time Favourites, Winetavern Street, Belfast

Serving the people of Belfast for over 100 years, Old Time Favourites is a traditional sweet shop in the historic Smithfield area. Step inside and discover shelves upon shelves of vintage classics, like sherbet lemons and butter balls. With over 300 jars of sweets to choose from, they've even got more modern vegan-friendly options too.

Overload, Broad Street, Magherafelt

Did someone say Nutella fondue? How dreamy does this sharing platter look, with brownie chunks, donuts, strawberries, and mallows too. What a cute idea for Valentine's Day dessert!

Oggies Dessert Bar, Banbridge and Lisburn

Looking through the menu at Oggies' will leave your head spinning, from whipped ice cream pots to waffles and cheesecake – it's all here! These guys are on Uber Eats as well, so you could order from the comfort of your own sofa, what's not to love.

Cool Moo's, Scaffog Business Centre, Enniskillen

Warm cookies, filled crepes and monster bagels – all washed down with a colourful shake – where do we sign up? Cool Moo's is your one-stop snack shop and we love it!
