One in four of us will be diagnosed with a mental health condition at some point in our lives.

In Northern Ireland, cases are 25% higher than the rest of the UK, which is put down to the legacy of the conflict.

Trauma from The Troubles affects 213,000 people across the province, which is about half of all cases of mental illness.

Over the coming weeks Downtown & Cool FM will be looking at the ticking time bomb that is mental illness in Northern Ireland.

We hear from people who have suffered with depression and feel failed by the Department of Health.

Politicians have their say and charities tell us about the work they do to assist those in need.
