Where can I recycle my Christmas tree in Northern Ireland?

Published 5th Jan 2017

If you’re sick of Christmas, then good news as it now officially over!

By now you have no doubt taken down all of the decorations and stored everything away until next year ...

According to superstition, it is apparently bad luck to leave your decorations up after last night as tree spirits lived in the greenery of the holly. Ornaments and decorations were taken down to set the spirits free.

But what do you do if you had a real real Christmas Tree this year?

Simple - have it recycled.

For those living in the Belfast, Belfast City Council have four recycling centres:

  • Alexandra Park Avenue, 180 Alexandra Park Avenue, BT15 3GJ - Blackstaff Way, I Blackstaff Way, BT11 9DT - Ormeau, 6 Park Road, BT7 2FX - Palmerstown Road, 2-4 Palmerstown Road, BT4 1QA

Instead of throwing them on the landfill, the trees can be ground down in the compost.

Meanwhile, for the rest of us there are recycling facilities right across Northern Ireland .
