Motorcyclist air lifted to hospital after colliding with car

A man in his 70s is in a critical condition in hospital after his motorcycle crashed with another vehicle on the M2.

It is understood the pensioner was air lifted to hospital by the air ambulance, after the collision around 2.30 on Friday afternoon.

The crash caused major traffic disruption, with motorists reportedly at a standstill for around four hours.

A woman who was in the other vehicle at the time of the accident was not injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Inspector Gary Irvine said: "I would ask anyone who saw what happened or has dash cam footage that could be useful to our investigation, to get in touch with us on the non emergency number 101 quoting reference number 805 of the 06/07/18."
