Northern Ireland is set experience it's first real taste of winter with a mixture of sleet, hail and hill snow in the forecast.

According to forecasters we can expect a brief cold snap with some wintry showers this weekend.

The Met Office says; "A rainband crossing from the west on Sunday will bring a mixture of sunshine and showers, these heaviest in the northwest. Monday and Tuesday will start unsettled with strong winds and showers turning wintry to relatively low levels."

With night time temperatures expected to fall close to zero, drivers will have to brace themselves for black-ice in the mornings - worth getting the de-icer back out.

There is some good news in the forecast as the first part of this weekend, especially Saturday, will see a good deal of dry weather across the country.
